BROWN BOY BROWN GIRL READS
BROWN BOY BROWN GIRL READS AT A GLANCE
Brown Boy Brown Girl Reads is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) charity dedicated to empowering the minds of young BIPOC children in the greater community. We are committed to providing enriching learning experiences that promote reading, writing, financial literacy and youth entrepreneurship. Our programming is designed to be fun and engaging while encouraging the development of essential skills and knowledge. We strive to foster an environment of inclusivity and acceptance, so that every child can feel safe and empowered to reach their full potential.
REACH TO READ INITIATIVE
Reach to Read was established to promote reading and literacy; to offer diverse and cultural literature, and to grow a love of reading among children.
In 2016 we collected 1500 new and gently used children's books and donated them to organizations in Flint through the Christ Enrichment Center, which was a literacy hub in the area at the time. Our Reach to Read book drive was a direct response to city's water crisis. The books were disseminated to underserved youth and aided in reversing possible brain damage that could have occurred in a child who was exposed to lead.
Since the inception of the Reach to Read Initiative, Brown Boy Brown Girl Reads is working on expansion of the program in hopes of connecting more families in Kalamazoo to BIPOC children's books.

END OF SUMMER READING MEET THE AUTHOR
Avoid the summer slide
With our organization’s mission always in mind, we strive to connect families with multicultural children's books. Under our new program, children will have the opportunity to read, play and learn during story time in the park. Contact us to learn more about our commitment to this cause.
JUNIOR CEO
Cultivating Youth Entrepreneurship
Through our annual Junior CEO Business Fair and Conference, we introduce children to entrepreneurship. Additionally, we have workshops that focus on money smarts, trademarks, and starting a business. Children have the opportunity to showcase their business during our interactive marketplace. We are always striving to make a difference and invite you to learn more and lend your support.
